ABOUT US

New Frontier is dedicated to promoting individual, family and community wellness through a variety of substance abuse and behavioral health services. We provide quality, evidence-based addiction treatment, prevention and behavioral health services to rural Nevadans. We value honest communication, integrity, respect and accountability.

BRIEF HISTORY OF NEW FRONTIER

In 1971, Churchill County residents banded together to form the Churchill Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs, consisting of seven Board Members and one full-time Substance Abuse Counselor.

In 1974, the Board negotiated with Churchill County, and opened the New Frontier Treatment Center. The facility contained 14 beds, and could house 7 men and 7 women at any given time. Staffing consisted of a Director and 3 Counselors.

Nearly 25 years later, in 1997, a loan from the USDA facilitated new construction, and the occupancy capacity was doubled to 28 beds. There was also a marked evolution in staff qualifications. New Frontier attracted staff from a variety of academic backgrounds including Social Sciences, Administration and Finance.

In 2007, a catastrophic fire burnt New Frontier to the ground.

In October of 2008, New Frontier moved into it's new location at 1490 Grimes Street in Fallon. Over the years offices and services have been expanded to Lovelock, Winnemucca, Elko, Wendover, Ely, Pioche, Caliente, Hawthorn and Tonapah.
